Sunday Concert
On December 8th we held our concert at Frederick Loewe Theatre.
I
n preparing for improvising beyond our shores with partners across the sea, we sought to embody our process through connecting movement with musicing and engaging the moment. Students in Expanded Music explored expressive possibilities with Teaching Artist and Choreographer Jee Yun Hong. They created their own choreography (each student contributing a phrase) and explored the immediacy of Loewe Theatre through music improvisations of Tromso University and Queens University, Belfast.---Doctor John Gilbert

My music life video
This video I made through iMovie. That I did when I took the course Technology Resources that also taught by Professor Gilbert. These images that I took came from these years when I performed and visited in some concerts. And the music is part of the Mozart Piano Concerto. Enjoy it :)

Improvisation
Last week I got a book called FREE PLAY that our professor Gilbert gave us as our kind of textbook.
I read a little these days. In the beginning prologue, there is a very profound story that called A New Flute. It talked about how the musician made his music to be successful. It came from his improvisation.
As this book said"whether we are creating high art or a meal, we improvise when we move with the flow of time and with our own evolving consciousness, rather than with a preordained script or recipe."
Improvisation is very important in our life. I think if we want to have a better improvisation or inspiration, we should have more basic knowledge about your field. And more practice and experience could let your improvisation and inspiration more interesting and popular.
That's just a little thought about my reading. I will continue my writing...

Embodiment
Last week I had a chance to watch a performance that teaching artist Jee Yun Hong and my classmates Jun Zhang perform together under unperparation. From there, I found that musicians must have an ability that response quickly from music. And How do they make a conversation via the music and dance. I think that's the part of the embodiment.
Here I also found something from Youtube. This video also present this violinist make a response with some other one's shadows.

Expanded Music and Its Impact on Teaching (My favorite media)
This is my first assignment in this class Expanded Music. The name of this video is Lady Buddha With Thousand Hands.
As I said on the class, this one is performed by the dancers who are the deaf. They cannot hear anything. They must have a conductor to let them do every action together. I like this show not only for these dancers , but also for the music. The music comes from the old chinese music just add some modern element there. It gives me the feeling of freshness and let me memory some old chinese scenes and stories.
